When working with a Ghost immobiliser, knowing how to put it into service mode is essential. Service mode allows technicians or vehicle owners to perform maintenance, diagnostics, or programming without triggering the immobiliser’s security features. This guide walks you through the process clearly and safely, so you can manage your Ghost immobiliser with confidence.

What Is Service Mode on a Ghost Immobiliser?

Service mode temporarily disables the immobiliser’s blocking function. This mode is useful when you need to:

  • Perform vehicle servicing or repairs

  • Program new keys or remotes

  • Diagnose faults without immobiliser interference

Without entering service mode, the immobiliser may prevent the engine from starting or cause other interruptions during maintenance.

Preparing to Enter Service Mode

Before you start, gather the following:

  • Your vehicle’s key and acess to the car

  • The Ghost immobiliser service button to hand

  • A calm, well-lit workspace

Make sure the vehicle is parked safely with the handbrake on. Avoid attempting service mode activation while driving or in unsafe conditions.

Step 1: Turn the Ignition On

Insert your key into the ignition or press the start button and turn it to the ON position. Do not start the engine yet. This step powers the immobiliser system and prepares it to receive commands.

Step 2: Locate the Ghost Immobiliser indication

Find the indicator on the dashboard for the Ghost immobiliser. This indicator provides feedback on the system’s status. This may be a double hazard flash, ABS light, Full Beam flash or a buzzer.

Step 3: Enter the Service Mode Activation Sequence

The exact sequence can vary by Ghost immobiliser model, but a common method involves:

  • Turning the ignition ON

  • Enter the Ghost code to disarm the car as normal

  • Now press your Service/Valet button 5 times
